Public lecture with a round-table discussion on the modern interpretation of Ancient sources!

Херодот скицира АлександърISHA Sofia, in collaboration with the department of “Ancient history, Thracian studies and Medieval studies”, and with the collaboration of Regional History museum – Sofia and the Student council of Sofia University “Kliment Ohridski”, will be organizing a public lecture and an open round-table discussion on the modern interpretation of Ancient sources. The event will begin with a public lecture, which will take place on the 28th of March, 16:00, room 23, in the History faculty of Sofia University. The topic will be “How to sketch a philhellene: Alexander I, Herodotus and the perils of historical interpretation”. It will be presented by one of the foremost Macedonian scholars on the topic, associate professor Vojislav Sarakinski from Skopje university „St. st. Cyril and Methodius“. He will also be accompanied by visiting students from his university. The language of the lecture will be Macedonian. The event will continue on the next day with a round table discussion on “Ancient sources and their modern reception”. The discussion will take place on the 29th of March, 17:30, in hall 1 of the Archaeological cultural-communication center Serdica, part of RHM-Sofia (Largo). The discussion will be led by leading specialists in the field of Ancient history, Archaeology and Epigraphy and students are encouraged to take part. The names of the moderators will be officially announced in the following days. See you there!
